Working across the financial sector for over twenty years, Tom spent much of his time working as a commercial banking/leveraged finance underwriter. He experienced the lack of engagement appetite for sub ~$15 million EBITDA businesses and identified this space as underserved by existing intermediaries – with the belief that the majority of the lower middle market borrowers he encountered should have a path to broader credit markets. It wasn’t that a deal wasn’t there, it was that the larger intermediaries were not motivated by the smaller check sizes and were not suited to guide a lower middle market company through the DCM process. In 2020, Tom launched Ladrigan Management to disrupt the lower middle market debt advisory space and utilize his fundamental credit skills to arrange credit for sponsors and owners that run lean and would much rather be doing something else.
